From its origins as a private seaside retreat to its transformation into one of Vancouver’s most beloved event venues, the home has witnessed a rich tapestry of history. Designed in 1911 by esteemed architects Samuel Maclure and Cecil Fox, Brock House has been a cherished residence, a hub of social gatherings, and even a government facility before finding its place as a premier destination for weddings and celebrations.

Philip Gilman, a mining engineer, purchases beachfront property at Jericho Beach.

Gilman completes construction of his dream home, designed by architects Samuel Maclure and Cecil Fox.

Economic downturn forces Gilman to sell the property to the Government of BC.

1922
Mildred and Reginald Brock purchase the home and rename it Brockholm.

The Brocks tragically pass away in an airplane crash near Whistler.

Their sons sell Brockholm to businessman David Tait.

Following David Tait’s passing, his widow sells the property to the Federal Government, and it becomes an RCMP facility.

The RCMP vacates Brock House, leaving it abandoned.

The City of Vancouver acquires the property and transfers it to the Vancouver Park Board, which awards it to the Brock House Society.

Brock House becomes a treasured event venue, hosting thousands of weddings and special occasions.

Brock House Society partners with Peake Catering | Events to form Brock House Events, an elegant wedding and event venue with award-winning catering services and event planning professionals.
