Frequently Asked Questions at Brock House

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I START PLANNING?

As soon as your date is set! Brock House books up fast, and well in advance, sometimes 18 months out or more. Important event suppliers such as DJs, florists, event planners etc. also book up fast especially during key times such as spring and summer months and other festive holidays. Saturdays in June, July, August, and September, for example, are the first to go as are late November and December. We recommend that you start planning a minimum of six months in advance to ensure that you secure everything to make your celebration special.

DO YOU TAKE CARE OF BAR SERVICES?

Yes. Peake is a full-service caterer and the exclusive caterer at Brock House. This means that along with our delicious food, we also provide staff, rentals, alcohol, and décor. We are fully licensed to serve alcohol, and all our staff members hold valid Serving It Right certification. We often host bars with beer, wine & highballs, and our team can work with you to create custom cocktails.

WHEN DO I NEED TO CONFIRM GUEST NUMBERS?

We require final guest numbers five business days prior to your event. After this date, we are still able to accommodate minor increases in guest numbers on a case-by-case basis. Decreases in guest count cannot be accommodated less than five full business dates out.

DOES BROCK HOUSE HAVE A KITCHEN?

Yes. Brock House has a full-service kitchen and is supported, when necessary, by our main kitchen on Powell Street.

WHAT SERVICE STYLE DO YOU DO?

We can do everything from a formal plated meal, elegant buffet, casual barbecues or family style platters to cocktail parties and interactive Chef's Stations! Inquire with our Event Managers to find the best option suited to your event.

ARE WE ABLE TO HAVE A TASTING?

Yes! This can be a part of the planning process. We’d love to show you what we do best, and help you choose your perfect menu. Our tastings start at $150 per guest, minimum two guests. We work with our Chefs to provide a resplendent and relevant presentation of your menu. The tasting cost of two guests is credited back towards your event if your food and beverage costs are over $5000 pre-tax and service fee. Tastings will be offered after your event date is confirmed and a non-refundable deposit has been received.

DOES THE VENUE RENTAL FEE INCLUDE RENTALS?

The venue rental fee includes premium in house china, cutlery, glassware, buffet service items, tables, chairs and white linens. Any customized rentals would be additional. Peake is happy to order these for and add them to your quote.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?

Yes. Our team has a great deal of experience handling all sorts of allergies and dietary restrictions. Let us know your requirements in advance and we will make the necessary adjustments to satisfy your guests.

We are not a nut free facility. Note that for very serious allergies, we cannot fully guarantee that your food is completely allergen free.

CAN I WORK WITH YOU TO DEVELOP A CUSTOM MENU?

Absolutely! We love building custom menus in collaboration with our clients. Speak to one of our Event Managers to learn more.

DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM ORDER REQUIREMENT?

Yes. This depends on date, guest count and area of Brock House booked for your event, and other factors.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE LAST MINUTE/RUSH ORDERS?

We are good at last-minute orders, but we do reach points where we maximize our days and are not able to accept new orders. We want to preserve our excellent food and service and don’t want to compromise your experience. When we can accommodate, extra fees may apply on rush orders to cover additional costs. Being flexible to “Chef’s Choice”, always increases the chance last minute orders can be accommodated.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

Credit cards, EFT’s, cheques, money orders. Our deposit schedule, on events, requires certain timelines including any held funds that your bank may choose to impose. Credit card payments are subject to a processing fee.
